Therapy

Through understanding emotional and behavioural difficulties, and incorporating attachment theory, neuroscience, and a low arousal approach, collaborative partnerships flourish.

Therapy Sessions

Initial Consultation

When beginning therapy with The Kidd Clinic an Initial Consultation is required. This session provides an opportunity for background information to be gathered, identifying an individual's strengths and challenges, and the setting of individualised therapy goals. You may be asked to complete some brief questionnaires as part of this session. Initial Consultations are 60 minutes in length.

Art Therapy

Art Therapy at The Kidd Clinic uses creative mediums and expression to explore our thoughts, feelings, and lived experience. The emphasis of art therapy is less about talking through problems, and instead visually exploring the client’s experiences through the medium of their choice.

Creative expression can entail any modality you are comfortable with or curious about exploring, such as painting, drawing, clay, or even creative writing. The art therapy process helps us make sense of our inner world. In turn, we develop greater self-awareness, problem-solving skills and healthier coping mechanisms.

No artistic skill is required for art therapy and is applicable for all ages, particularly for individuals who have a creative interest and struggle to verbalise their thoughts and feelings.  A session runs for 45-50 minutes to allow time to transition out of the space, clean up and note taking.  All materials are provided and sessions are facilitated by a registered Art Therapist.  Sessions can also be funded through the NDIS if self or plan managed.

You can read more about what to expect in an art therapy session here (refer to blog) or contact our Client Care Team for more information or to book in an initial session with Alex Mowat (Art Therapist).
