Liane “Lia” Voelker

Registered Creative Arts Therapist

(ANZACATA)

I am a creative arts therapist passionate about supporting individuals and groups through a creative, somatic, playful and client-centred approach.

Prior to my Master in Creative Arts Therapies (2023) I worked as a Social Worker (B.A. Social Work, 2014) and a family support worker for neurodivergent families.

My therapeutic areas of interest include attachment, emotion regulation, neurodivergence, complex trauma, and community mental health.

In the creative art therapy space we use art, media and the creative process (drawing, writing, sculpting, drama, clay, sand, dance and/or movement) to facilitate the exploration of feelings, reduce anxiety and to evoke sensory stimulation.

Through expressive explorations I celebrate my clients diverse life experiences and focus on providing a safe, creative and non-directive space.

When I am not working, I value the fluidity, beauty and meditative qualities of yoga and enjoy an active lifestye including hiking, swimming and tennis. As an artist I spend most of my time outside of work painting and creating.
