PDA Women’s Group

The Kidd Clinic is hosting a group for clinically diagnosed, or self-identified, Autistic and AuDHD women over the age of 18 who identify as or are curious about PDA. You can attend this group in-person at our Fremantle clinic, or online.

In our therapeutic work, we have noticed there are common areas in which those with a PDA profile are seeking support and guidance. We are passionate about providing a safe group space where people can learn from and support others with shared lived experience, and build connections and a sense of community.

Session Topics

Session 1: Exploring PDA Identity
This group is a space to explore what it means to have a PDA profile — not as a label that limits us, but as a way to better understand how we move through the world. Having a PDA identity can bring strengths like creativity, deep empathy, and powerful self-protection instincts. It can also mean facing challenges when demands, expectations, or pressures feel overwhelming. In this group, we'll share experiences (only if you want to), name the parts of PDA that feel true for us, and think about how knowing ourselves can help us find more freedom, connection, and balance. You are the expert on your own experience. There's no right or wrong way to identify with PDA — we're just here to explore it together.

Session 2: Masking and the PDA Experience
Masking means hiding parts of ourselves — like our real feelings, needs, or reactions — so we can manage expectations, avoid demands, or keep ourselves safe. For people with a PDA profile, masking can be a smart survival strategy. It’s often automatic, not something we choose on purpose. Masking can help us get through situations that feel overwhelming, but it can also leave us feeling drained, stuck, or misunderstood. In this space, you don't have to mask — unless you want to. You are free to participate however feels easiest for you today.

Session 3: Connection on our terms- Navigating people and situations
To explore ways of connecting with others that feel natural, safe, and pressure-free. Recognising that for PDAers, connection can be powerful but also overwhelming if it's tied to expectations, hidden demands, or performance.

Session 4: My Rules, My Space: Healthy Boundaries for PDAers
To explore how understanding, setting, and respecting boundaries can help PDA adults protect their autonomy, build safer relationships, and manage overwhelm — without feeling trapped, controlled, or guilty. For people with a PDA profile, personal freedom and control over our lives are essential. Boundaries are a way of protecting that freedom — not just walls to keep people out, but healthy limits that help us stay connected to ourselves and others without losing our sense of safety.

Session 5: Self-Care on Your Terms: Building Compassion Without Demands
Self-care and self-compassion are about taking care of ourselves in ways that feel possible and kind — not adding more demands or 'shoulds' to our lives. For people with a PDA profile, even 'relaxing' activities can sometimes feel like pressure if they're framed as obligations. Today we’ll explore what self-care and self-kindness look like when you get to set the terms.
