Dr Elizabeth Shen

Clinical Psychology Registrar

I am passionate about creating a safe, collaborative, and empathetic space for children, young people, and adults to explore and manage their mental health and well-being. I see the individual as the centre of my work and the expert in their own experiences. Along with building a strong therapeutic relationship, I use a range of approaches, including CBT, ACT, mindfulness, self-compassion, and motivational interviewing to help clients find ways to enhance their quality of life and move toward their goals. I relish the opportunity to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. I also have interests in psychological assessment and group therapy.

I submitted my PhD thesis in Clinical Psychology at the Australian National University in April 2023 with a focus on psychosis and Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders. Through my clinical training and previous employment, I have experience working in various settings, including schools, hospitals, community mental health, and private organisations. I also have a specific interest in bringing psychology to the public space through accessible workshops and training.

During my free time, I enjoy spending quality time with family and friends, cooking up a storm, and going on adventures with my dogs.
