Chloé Thornton-Hick
Senior Clinical Psychologist
I am a Clinical Psychologist with over a decade of experience working within the mental health industry across public, private and not-for-profit settings. I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults and adults.
I am a compassionate and insightful therapist, and my primary aim is to create a safe and supportive space for my clients to feel comfortable to explore and discuss life circumstances and what may be difficult, painful and private experiences. I am passionate about helping my clients develop insight and awareness and from there build the psychological and behavioural skills needed to make and maintain positive and meaningful long-term change.
I am experienced in assessing and treating a range of mood, emotional and nervous system dysregulation issues including anxiety and depression, addiction, grief and loss, trauma, stress, relationship issues and adjusting to major life challenges. I honour and celebrate individual uniqueness and have experience working with neurodiversity, taking a collaborative and holistic approach. I work to identify key issues, specific areas of focus and develop workable, mutually agreed upon treatment goals, empowering individuals to cultivate a positive, authentic self-identity.
I draw upon a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MCBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed, Existential and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) as well as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am also a qualified, experienced and practising trauma informed yoga teacher.
Outside of work I love all things interior design, swimming in the ocean, reading Japanese literature and pilates!
