Alise Bender

I am a Clinical Psychology Registrar with a passion for working in the fields of neurodiversity and eating disorders. I finished my Master of Clinical Psychology at Curtin University in 2021. During my tertiary studies, I completed research exploring the role of childhood emotional abuse in the development of bulimia nervosa, and the effectiveness of behavioural activation for treating children with depression.

My role at The Kidd Clinic involves working therapeutically with children, young people and adults living with a range of mental health difficulties. Specifically, I have a strong interest in helping young neurodiverse people living with eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and perfectionism. Additionally, I am currently striving to bridge the gap in the treatment of autistic people with eating disorders through ongoing research and training.

I use a warm client-centred, strengths-based approach to therapy. Core to my therapeutic approach is the importance of mutual trust and connection between the client and myself. When not working with clients, I relish spending my time exploring nature, going for a swim in the ocean, reading a thrilling crime novel or enjoying brunch with friends.
